Since committing to a solid marketing program to support their push into the international marine market for seating pedestals, Marine Tech Industries has enjoyed ever growing success.
Exhibiting at METS in 2010 kicked off a succession of MTI displays at key boat shows, all of which were selected and rated by MTI as key ‘international shows’.
Marine Tech Industries of Melbourne Australia is a company dedicated to the design and production of the highest quality, finest grade marine pedestals.
The company produces a full range of pedestal systems which includes the BridgeMaster stainless steel range, ProWave aluminium pedestals and the Hercules table pedestals.
“METS proved to be a great experience for us,” said CEO Brett Vorhauer.
“Not only did we learn a lot about how to exhibit but we also met some key account customers and potential distributors. METS generated the essential link for us to then exhibit MTI products at the London Boat Show a few months later.”
Following METS, the remainder of 2010 and all of 2011 have been a whirlwind of boat shows for the MTI sales team. In this period, MTI has exhibited at boat shows in London, Dubai, China, Sanctuary Cove (Australia) and South Korea.
“The team MTI is approaching the shows as both a sales opportunity and a learning opportunity for our product development. We have certainly won important and valued business. But we have also learnt a lot about our product, what the market demands and the market for our products in general.”
To support the marketing effort, MTI has appointed Chris Carthew to the newly created position of Business Development Manager.
“To take our development further we have introduced Chris to the MTI organisation in the capacity of a Business Development Manager. Chris has impeccable business credentials and he is an exceptional addition to our team,” Brett Vorhauer said.
Underscoring the sales effort is an MTI product range built around the key strengths of quality and durability.
The premier product line within the range is the BridgeMaster line of highly polished stainless steel pedestals.
“With the BridgeMaster range we set out to manufacture an exceptional product, one which is not only the flagship model of the range, but one that any boat owner would be proud to have installed to his vessel.”
The stainless steel BridgeMaster pedestals are hand built from 316 grade stainless steel and hand polished to an exceptional lustre. The quality is simply exceptional. These pedestals can be fitted with the customer’s choice of manual sliders, electric slider or one of a variety of footrests.
Complimenting the BridgeMaster pedestal range is the line of Hercules table pedestals. Manufactured to the same exacting standards, the Hercules table pedestals are available in a variety of diameters and height ranges.
The star of the range though is the electric table pedestal. This unit adjusts from a height of 400 mm to 700mm and is fitted with a 24 volt motor with a lifting capacity of 80 kg to 200 kg dependent on customers’ requirements. These can be fitted individually or in multiples depending on the location and size of the table to be lifted.
“We are a particularly customer focussed organisation,” said Brett Vorhauer.
“Our production and our design capability are geared to provide custom products for customers who need something just that little bit different. Whether supplying a boat under construction or one that is being refurbished, we have a complete line of pedestals that will not only look fantastic, but are entirely functional too.”

Marine Tech Industries (MTI) MD Brett Vorhauer has announced the appointment of Chris Carthew to the newly created position of Business Development Manager of the growing Melbourne (Australia) based company.
The company produces a full line of pedestal systems which includes the BridgeMaster stainless steel line, ProWave aluminium pedestals and the Hercules table pedestals.
Over the past twelve months, MTI has been focussed upon growth both in the Australian domestic market and the international or export markets.
“We have a product range that meets world’s best practice,” said Brett Vorhauer.
“To take our development further we have introduced Chris to the MTI organisation in the capacity of a Business Development Manager. Chris has impeccable business credentials and he is an exceptional addition to our team.”
Chris was born in Melbourne but grew up in regional Victoria. After gaining trade qualifications he completed a degree as a mature age student to graduate as a Bachelor of Management / Marketing.
Through his previous employment in the automotive industry as a component supplier to Kenworth, Brett Vorhauer and Chris crossed paths.
After a decade as a BDM and then GM in regional Victoria, Chris decided it was time for a change and moved to Melbourne to take up the position of BDM at MTI.
“I had no hesitation in joining Brett at MTI,” Chris commented. “His commitment to quality and customer service beggars belief. Joining MTI and bringing automotive industry standards to the marine industry represents a great opportunity for us.”
Upon joining MTI, Chris brings a renewed focus to the strengths of the product range and the brand.
“Here is a company that is truly leading the market. The products in the MTI range are quality personified. The superior quality is embodied in the design, the manufacturing and the attention to detail in the finish.”
“In performance the MTI brand has no peer. These seating pedestals are superior in both stability and durability. This is a company with a product and determination to literally take on the world and succeed.”
“But it doesn’t occur overnight; nor does it occur without effort. My role as BDM is to identify and develop markets. It is a wonderful opportunity.”
Chris has a well round background in boating. He is currently crewing on a 33’ monohull racing yacht, and in the past has been an avid fisherman, water skier and scuba diver. He also holds a private pilots licence.
Marine Tech Industries is a wholly Australian owned company, based in Melbourne, Australia. MTI manufactures quality seat and table pedestals and seating systems for the marine industry throughout the world.
